This place is a historic hidden gem. I ordered pigs in the blanket. Food was great and came out fast. Price was reasonable for location and quality/ quantity. I will be back.
For years, I have been meaning to stop by this 5o4 institution. It does have the word pancake in the name. It only made sense to order the pancakes. They came out hot and satisfying! It was comforting to finally be a patron at this establishment. May y'all stay open forever! I hope to be back sooner than later.
After a long morning of walking and exploring the downtown area, I got an appetite for some food. I ended up looking up this place and noticed it sale breakfast and lunch. I opt in to try some breakfast and it wasnt the best but it held me until dinner time. The shrimp grits were seasoned to perfection, the cakes were on the tough side but I guess the syrup helped with that.
We had breakfast this morning at Betty’s Pancake House, and overall it was a solid experience. The crowd skewed a bit older than me, but the place felt comfortable and relaxed, not dated. The price point is one of the big wins here—very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. The food was consistently good across the board. Nothing jumped out as spectacular or unforgettable, but nothing disappointed either. Everything tasted well-prepared, fresh, and exactly what you’d expect from a dependable breakfast spot. It’s the kind of place you leave satisfied, not wowed—and that’s not a bad thing. For a good-quality meal at a good-quality price, Betty’s delivers. I’d absolutely go back to try a few different menu items, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, no-nonsense breakfast.
We took the Streetcar up Canal to Dorgenois Street, just to go to Betsy’s for breakfast. We were not disappointed. The atmosphere is like an old-school dinner, nothing fancy just fun and homey. The breakfast is basic, eggs, bacon, grits with toast or pancakes. The portions are very large and the cost is super reasonable. A great experience and we will be back.
